THE Government has built 585 classrooms in Nebbi district, the LC5 chairman, Esrom Alenyo has said.

By Vision ReporterTHE Government has built 585 classrooms in Nebbi district, the LC5 chairman, Esrom Alenyo has said.He said because of the government policy of decentralisation, the council constructed 159 schools and 14 houses to accommodate teachers.Alenyo told The New Vision in Nebbi town on Monday during a tour of the district to inspect projects in Padyere and Jonam sub-counties.He said enrolment under the UPE programme in the district rose from 40,000 pupils to 119,125 pupils since inception.Alenyo said the district upgraded 587km of the feeder roads to become the best rural roads in the country.He said medical services in the 55 health units in the district had improved especially with the availability of drugs in the hospitals.Alenyo decried the frequent outbreak of cholera in the sub-county of Panyimur and plague in the sub-counties of Kango, Atyak and Zeu in Okoro county which claimed several lives.He urged farmers to improve their household income by modernising agriculture at home level.He praised the decentralisation policy which, he said, made it easy for LCs to implement programmes like UPE, feeder roads.Ends
