Private Security Bodies Sign Deal

UGANDA Private Security Association has signed a collective bargaining agreement with Amalgamated Transport and General Workers Union with a call to the private security organisations to avoid exploiting their workers.

By Raymond MikahUGANDA Private Security Association has signed a collective bargaining agreement with Amalgamated Transport and General Workers Union with a call to the private security organisations to avoid exploiting their workers.The agreement brought 16 private security organisations together, with an estimated force of 15,000 personnel.The agreement is to promote good labour practices that conform to International Labour Organisation standard. The Inspector General of Police, Edward Katumba Wamala, officiated at the ceremony at Fairway Hotel.Wamala said the partnership which brought 16 private security organisations together should provide better security to the public.“You should make sure that you give good training to your personnel and provide adequate arms before you send them to the field,” he said.Wamala said the police are in the process of establishing a data base to monitor the development all private security activities in the country.He said the big investments currently going on in the country needs better security.Ends
