Teachers urged to be change agents

TEACHERS in Bushenyi have been advised to become agents of change instead of objects of change if their impact is to be felt in the society they live in.

By Raynel Kanyambuin BushenyiTEACHERS in Bushenyi have been advised to become agents of change instead of objects of change if their impact is to be felt in the society they live in.This was said by Mr Kaganizo Mutesasira the chairman of the Bushenyi District Teachers Association (BUDITA) last Friday.This was during a meeting that took place at Basajjabalaba Primary School in Igara county.He said that for long-time teachers have become objects of change, which has rendered them objects of abuse.“The fact that teachers have been underrated because of what they take themselves to be in the society,” Mutesasira said.This, together with the recently formed Uganda National Teachers Union (UNTU) was the crowning of a whole week’s district wide tour in the four Bushenyi counties forming teachers union committees.In the same meeting they formed a county committee that Mutesasira headed.
