THE defence ministry and the army general headquarters will relocate from Bombo.

By Richard MutumbaTHE defence ministry and the army general headquarters will relocate from Bombo.Defence minister Amama Mbabazi yesterday said the expanding airforce would move from the Old Entebbe Airport to Nakasongola Airbase.Mbabazi was appearing before the parliamentary committee on defence and internal affairs to defend his ministry’s budget request for the 2002/03 fiscal year. The ministry is seeking sh238.3b up from sh207.8b allocated this financial year.“We are planning to move the ministry and the army general headquarters from Bombo to another place and leave Bombo to land forces,” Mbabazi told the committee chaired by Simon Mayende (Samia Bugwe South).He said the airbase at the Old Entebbe Airport was becoming too small for the expanding UPDF airforce.Ends
