Belgians Here For Pearl

By Douglas Mazune TWO Belgian drivers flew into the country on Thursday to assess the TOTAL Pearl of Africa Uganda rally route. The event is due August 30-September 1.Dethier Bernard who is also the National champion of Madagascar and his compatriot Patrick Emontspool told The New Vision on Thursday night that they would compete in the 2002 Africa Rally Championship events in Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.Emontspool and Dethier were shown some of the rally roads in Uganda before they flew back last night.However, the Belgians’ cars are held up in Madagascar because of the political turmoil in the country.“We hope this problem in Madagascar come to end soon. Cars must leave in the next three weeks,” Emontspool said.Ends
