By Nicholas Kajoba A TOTAL of sh7.8b is needed to extend piped water from Namanve to Mukono town council this year.Engineer Joseph Oliyono of the Directorate of Water Development in the Ministry of water and lands said this last week while addressing a one-day workshop for stakeholders at Mukono community centre hall.The district water officer, Ronald Kato, the town mayor, Johnson Muyanja Senyonga, and residents of the town attended the workshop.in the recent presidential campaigns, President Yoweri Museveni promised to ensure that Mukono town gets piped water to attract investors and boost economic development by the end of this year.Oliyono said the water project was divided into three phases which would cover Seeta and Mukono towns.“The cost of the three water phases will be sh20b and will last for more than five years,’’ he said.The district assistant Chief Administrative Officer, Fred Mugerwa, said there was need for all stakeholders to donate land towards the construction of the project facilities. He urged residents to support the project because the town was lagging behind in industrial development.Ends
