Kampala Police yesterday displayed a bag containing two rifles, 21 bullets and an army fatigue similar to that of the UPDF. The uniform had pips of a Major. The items were abandoned by fleeing thugs.

The items were abandoned by fleeing thugs.The Regional Police Commander, Ahmed Wafuba, said at a press conference yesterday that the firearms were recovered yesterday morning from two suspected gangsters.The gangsters fled on a motorcycle as the Police pursued them near the Queens Way Clock tower, Kampala.Also recovered in the 6:00am chase were five registration number plates, UAA 589U, UAB 899T, UAA 464S, UAD 289A and 128UEC. In another development, Wafuba vowed to intensify snap-checks for vehicles that may be having altered chassis numbers. This follows a discovery that mechanics in the city were altering chassis numbers of robbed vehicles. This is part of security crack down on armed thugs.Ends
