THE French ambassador to Uganda, Jean Bernard Thiant believes France’s all-round abilities have declined, but they are still top contenders with Italy and Argentina at the World Cup.

By Norman KatendeTHE French ambassador to Uganda, Jean Bernard Thiant believes France’s all-round abilities have declined, but they are still top contenders with Italy and Argentina at the World Cup.The former French University international goalkeeper who also played with French third division side Tours, said that France’s game has declined in defence but the attack has improved.He said Zinedine Zidane’s injury was a blow but the likes of David Trezeguet will step into his shoes.“Zidane is important. He means a lot for the French team but play has to go on with or without him,” he said.Thiant was also optimistic that Senegal and Cameroon will put up a great performance.-The marketing team of the leading daily, The New Vision will Friday host a lavish luncheon at Kampala Casino today to mark the start of the World Cup, reports Timothy Bukumunhe. The team led by Managing Director, William Pike will sit down to lunch with a number of high corporate types including, MTN’s C.E.O Thomas Bragaw, Spear Motors’ Gordon Wavamunno Crane Bank’s Sudhir Ruparelia, Kazinga Channel’s Mohmood Somani.Ends
