By Dennis Ojwee MEMBERS of Parliament in Acholi sub-region under the chairmanship of Gulu municipality MP Norbert Mao have begun a 14-day working visit in the districts of Gulu, Kitgum and Pader.Mao said the MPs will hold meetings with local leaders on peace efforts and the dismantling of displaced persons’ camps in the sub region. They will also work out an inter-districts unity plan for urbanisation in Acholiland and report to the district leaders on legislation in Parliament.Other activities will include discussion on land, human rights and humanitarian relief, the Constitutional Review Commission and plan for post conflict reconstruction and development of the area, he said.Mao said the programme follows the MPs resolution after a meeting in April to visit the area.“The tour that kicked off on May 25 in Kitgum would restrict itself to issues on which the Acholi Parliamentary Group (APG) has a common position and avoid controversial issues which may derail our common focus for peace,” Mao said.During the meeting, the APG will meet the LC5, LC3 and their councillors and resident district commissioners, district internal security officers and non governmental organisations in the three districts.
