ANOTHER Allied Democratic Forces (adf) remnant commander has been captured in the ongoing UPDF mop-up operation in Butembo in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.

ANOTHER Allied Democratic Forces (adf) remnant commander has been captured in the ongoing UPDF mop-up operation in Butembo in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. A Vision Reporter writes that the rebel leader, identified only as Kinyata from Lira district, was reportedly the commander of the crushed ADF support weapon section before President Museveni pronounced them defeated in 2001.The Rwenzori Mountains Alpine Brigade commander, Lt. Col. Mawa Muhindo confirmed the incident.This brings to 14, the number of rebel remnants captured in eastern DRC by the UPDF.On June 18, the UPDF captured eleven rebels including the commander of Manga Manga brigade, Ahmad Onega Kasika, who said he hailed from Lira district.Amina Baswiira, suckling a 9-month-old baby girl and others from Iganga, Bugiri, Kampala, Mpigi, Kasese and eastern DRC, were captured from Isale, Butembo.Baswiira, 30, said she was a wife to Hussein Vimbe, the chief of armory, who was captured at River Semliki basin last year but is reportedly free in Kampala.Before parading last week’s rebels for the press at his tactical base at Karungibati, Mawa allowed them in the officers’ mess to watch the World Cup match between Brazil and England. Mawa said the suspects would be prosecuted.The rebels appealed to their colleagues in the bush to abandon the struggle. Ends
