KKL tour ready

FORTY companies and several individuals have fully sponsored the Kampala Kids League (KKL) U-13 select side’s European tour that starts on Sunday.

By Phillip CorryFORTY companies and several individuals have fully sponsored the Kampala Kids League (KKL) U-13 select side’s European tour that starts on Sunday.Corporate companies, that have given overwhelming support to the select side that flys out for the Tivoli and Gothia Cups in Scandinavia, were unveiled at a farewell press conference at Lugogo yesterday.“We are very grateful to all the sponsors that have given us support throughout our stay and preparations for the tournaments that we will be participating in Denmark and Sweden,” Trevor Dudley, KKL commissioner said. “This sponsorship will enable us and so many of our talented Ugandan boys take part in this Euro-tour 2002,” Dudley said.The KKL official party will first head for London where they will spend a week training and playing games against Charlton Athletic, West Ham Utd and Watford.On July 7, the team will fly to Copenhagen, Denmark to take part in the Tivoli Cup. They will thereafter travel to Gothenburg, Sweden to compete in the largest youth soccer tournament in the world — the Gothia Cup—that has attracted 1,250 teams from 56 different countries of the world.KKL handed out their brochure, game schedule and information package at the press conference.The KKL U-13 team was also presented with their full team kit.The side has been pitted in the “Group of Death” which sees them play Olsa Brakel of Belgium, FC Papagos of Greece, V Lyckeby of Sweden and V Hillerod of Denmark. The Gothia Cup kicks off on July 15 . The select KKL side consists of 18 players from Friends of Football, Nile Academy and the Kampala Kids League and has five officials.The team is confident they will do well.Ends
