Masaka Police on Saturday shot dead three notorious armed robbers believed to have been part of a gang that on Friday night terrorised Masaka villages and killed one driver.Davis Weddi, Eddie Ssejjoba and Ali Mambule write that Police identified the dead as Charles Muyimba, Issah Ssenyonga and Abdu Nuulu Nsubuga all from Sembabule.Police recovered one semi-machine gun with 12 bullets and two toy pistols, and two stolen mobile phones.They also recovered a saloon car robbed previously by the thugs.Police Chief Maj. Gen. Katumba Wamala yesterday said they were still “harvesting armed robbers.”The thugs reportedly confessed to have robbed people the previous night and accepted to lead the Police to a swamp where the firearms and bullets were recovered. They were shot while trying to escape from Police custody. This brings the number of thugs killed by the Police in the last two weeks to 28. Police recently began a crackdown on armed thugs, saying those who refuse to surrender would be killed.Ends
