Mother Of Caged Child Arrested

By Joan Mugenzi THE Police in Kawempe have arrested Sarah Birungi, the woman who locked up her son, Ronald Ssemambo, in a cage.Birungi was picked from her home in Kalule Zone in Kawempe at 3:00pm on Tuesday by police constable Margaret Andiru.Dhabangi Isabirye, the officer in charge of the child and family protection unit in Kawempe, said Birungi would be charged with assault and neglecting to provide assistance to her son.The Police on Sunday rescued a naked Ssemambo from a cage meant for goats.Ssemambo had scars all over his body. One scar reportedly resulted from a heated knife his mother burnt him with. He said a wound on his ear resulted from being beaten with metallic wire. He also had a cut on one of his fingers. Ends
