Museveni, Buyoya Meet In Durban

PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni on Tuesday held talks with President Pierre Buyoya of Burundi with whom he discussed the peace and reconciliation process in Burundi.

Okurut, the President’s press secretary, said the meeting took place at the Durban International Convention Centre. It said Museveni was in Durban, South Africa, where he joined 43 other African leaders for the launching of the African Union (AU) that has replaced the Organisation of African Unity.With him were water, lands and environment minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda and the acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bakayana Kityo. Museveni also received the South African Vice-President, Jacob Zuma. The launching ceremony was held in the ABSA sports stadium outside Durban city amid fanfare, traditional dancing and singing.Ends
