THE Uganda Human Rights Commission has supported steps being taken by the Government to flush out rebel leader Joseph Kony from the Southern Sudan, reports Charles Ariko. The chairperson of the Commission, Mrs. Margaret Sekaggya said yesterday that Kony’s attacks on innocent civilians in northern Uganda was a violation of their rights which had led the majority of them to live under inhuman and miserable conditions. Sekaggya said this had resulted in people abandoning camps for the internally displaced people.“If security deteriorates and people start running away from their homes and internally displaced peoples camps (IDPs), it is the responsibility of the Government to defend civilians and their property. I think that is what the government is doing at the moment because the situation seems to be getting out of control and people no longer trust staying in the camps,” Sekaggya said.Ends
