Namwanje cursed God’s blessing of the four babies she delivered at Kasaala Hospital about two weeks ago. Yesterday, however, her plight published by The New Vision last Monday, made her the envy of every woman in Nakaseke Hospital. Matthias Mugisha reports that she praised God and thanked The New Vision for assisting her. The New Vision delivered a contribution of sh500,000 from David Opondo, a reader in the UK. Opondo is a post-graduate student. He read the story on the internet. The money was handed to Namwanje by Opondo’s wife, Juliet, a teacher at Namilyango College. The New Vision team accompanying Opondo, carried a 15kg children clothing package from the corporation staff. Opondo rang The New Vision after his contribution was delivered and said, “I thank The New Vision for highlighting the plight of rural women. I felt touched by the story and my contribution is purely on humanitarian grounds.’’ “I was raised in a village environment and I know what it means for a poor village woman with even one kid. I hope my contribution will be a catalyst to the Ugandans and politicians to always help such disadvantaged people,’’ he said.Namwanje, 27, gave birth to premature quadruplets on July 3 through a normal delivery. She was transferred to Nakaseke Hospital where the babies, all boys, are in an incubator.Ends
