Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi has stopped the Buganda Land Board (BLB) officials from demanding sh500m as rent from the three schools founded by him, reports Josephine Maseruka. The schools are Lubiri High School, Nnabagereka Primary school in the Mengo palace and the Buganda Royal Technical Institute at Kakeeka. In separate communications to the school boards late last month, BLB secretary Michael Ssozi said failure to clear the dues within six months would lead to repossession of the land. The Mengo minister for education, sports and mobilisation, J.C. Muyingo, who is in charge of the schools said when the matter reached the Kabaka, he stopped the whole exercise. “The Kabaka said he was studying the situation because most students in these schools are orphans under the Kabaka Education Fund scholarship scheme,” Muyingo said.Ends
