By Cyprian MusokeMEMBERS of the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee want to know why UPDF officers who were trained under the Uganda Defence Review Programme (UDRP) were denied appointments on the Commission, while people who were not trained, were appointed.Col. Fred Bogere (UPDF) said this was done by senior officers in oblivion of the President, and created a bad impression to the sponsors of the programme.“It seems the Ministry of Defence is backing a lot on the defence review programme. There were two courses on it and senior officers attended,” Bogere said.“What is of concern, however, is that in spite of the fact that they sponsored over 30 people, when it came to appointing, people who did not train are the ones who were appointed to manage it,” he said.In September last year, two groups of senior defence ministry and army officials underwent a two-week training course at Ranch on the Lake and Botanical Beach Hotel in Entebbe.Ends
