THE first ever fishing event off the lake shores will be held on Sunday

THE first ever fishing event off the lake shores will be held on Sunday, writes William Muwonge. Children will be the main actors at the event due at Speke Marina, Munyonyo on Lake Victoria. Action will start at 2.00pm. Adults will compete alongside the youngsters at the event that targets small fish — tilapia, catfish and mudfish. The event is sponsored by Rajiv Ruparelia, 12, son of Kampala property mogul Sudhir Ruparelia. “There will be a lot of fun for children,” Rajiv said. Rajiv’s father offered the Munyonyo Marina to host the competition. The organiser Arthur de Mello, said the event will provide good experience to beginners. The event’s format is a departure from the traditional fishing using boats and targeting big fish including the Nile perch.
