By William Muwonge JACK Evans was the lead performer with a 1.5kg tilapia catch at the first fishing event off the lake shores on Sunday. The 12-year-old Evans had to wait long before his efforts paid off at the Speke Marina, Munyonyo off Lake Victoria. The cheeky Evans, a pupil in Nairobi, laid his fishing gear in the waters, then went about trading jokes with fellow teenagers. Minutes after Evans returned to his competition spot, his hook had its victim held tightly sending him wild with joy. The runner up at the event where children were main actors was Derrick Byamugisha who caught a tilapia. The two got fishing rods and reels. Sudhir Ruparelia offered the venue for the event organised by his 12-year old son Rajiv. The girls’ event was won by Imaan Kichou who landed a 1.5kg tilapia fish followed by Sheena Ruparelia. In the adults event, Johnny Evans picked the biggest fish, a 2.5kg tilapia while Isabelle de Mello was the ladies’ heroine.Ends
