Pearl Rally Attracts 24

By DOUGLAS MAZUNENADIM Lalani, Herbert ‘Fatso’ Lubega and Fred Kizito yesterday entered the TOTAL Pearl of Africa Uganda rally raising the number of local drivers to nine.Lubega (Toyota Celica ST165), Kizito (Subaru Leon) and Lalani (Golf GTI) registered for the MOSAC organised rally due August 30-September 1. Uganda’s round of the Africa Rally Championship (ARC) series has so far attracted 24 drivers.More local drivers are expected to pick forms before normal entries close at 5.00pm today.Local drivers are scheduled to go route reccing August 24-25 while foreign entrants will go through the route August 28-29.The event will start with a super special stage at Entebbe Botanical gardens immediately after scrutineering of cars on August 30.Cars will go to Mityana for the second leg on Saturday before the final leg in Jinja on Sunday.TOTAL Uganda, Hima Cement, Hotel Equatoria, Celtel Uganda and South African Airways are sponsors of the rally.Other entrants: 1.
