AN LDU deserter from Ochorimongin market near Katakwi town has been arrested in the on-going Operation Wembley, reports Nathan Etengu. Operatives from the Internal Security Organisation, some of whom travelled from Kampala, on Friday arrested James Okau. They said Okau had escaped from his unit in Karenga sub-county in Kotido district.A gun with 16 live bullets was recovered from him after he fired three times in a futile attempt to scare away the security operatives pursuing him.A UPDF veteran who attempted to question Okau’s arrest was also picked up and briefly held before he was saved by the Administration Officer of the Anti Stock Theft Unit (ASTU), Capt. Emmy Odongo, who had known the veteran while they were in Congo. The veteran, Richard Otim, said he was a law-abiding citizen and trained soldier who responded to the gunshots. “I have done nothing wrong,” he pleaded. Ends
