Uganda Laws Revised

THE Attorney General, Mr. Francis Ayume, has said the revision of principal laws covering the period from 1964 to 2000 have been completed.

By Jonathan Angura THE Attorney General, Mr. Francis Ayume, has said the revision of principal laws covering the period from 1964 to 2000 have been completed.He said printing of books containing the revised laws was being done in the United Kingdom and the printed volumes would be available in the country by December this year. He said the laws were last revised in 1964.Ayume was closing a- four-day judges’ conference at Jinja Nile Resort Hotel on Wednesday.He said subsidiary legislation was also being revised and by September 2003 the complete sixth revised edition of the laws of Uganda containing principal and subsidiary legislations would be ready.Over 50 participants, including judges, state attorneys, magistrates and court advocates, attended the conference organised by the Foundation for Human Rights Initiative (FHRI).Ayume said most of the laws were scattered in various statutes which were not easily accessible.Ends
