FIVE suspected robbers were on Tuesday arrested and one killed in a raid mounted by Operation Wembley in Mbarara district, reports Allan Turyaguma.Residents were thrown into panic as gunshots rang out in the suburbs of the municipality and many military vehicles kept moving around at a high speed.Security sources said officers from Operation Wembley, which is headed by the deputy director general of ISO, Col. Elly Kayanja, had come trailing the robbers from Kampala.A thug identified as Mande was gunned down near Kaberebere trading centre, about 8km on the Mbarara-Kikagate road where he had staged a roadblock.The five robbers were later paraded at Kaberebere with some of their guns.Mbarara district secretary for defence Capt. Steven Rwakanuma and the municipality local defence unit personnel commander Eric Rutahigwa participated in the operation.Ends
