17 Children Abducted By LRA In Akara, Bura Parishes

SEVENTEEN children were adducted by rebels of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) when they raided Akara and Bura parishes in Mucwini sub-county in Kitgum in the wee hours of Monday.

By Wokorach-Oboi in Kitgum SEVENTEEN children were adducted by rebels of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) when they raided Akara and Bura parishes in Mucwini sub-county in Kitgum in the wee hours of Monday.The LC5 councillor for Mucwini sub-county, Constant Odongtoo, said on Tuesday morning that eight of the abducted children were freed by their captors at around 10:00pm on Monday reportedly because they were too young to travel.He said the rebels were estimated to be between eight to 10. “The remaining nine were still in rebel captivity and some of them were already said to have been dressed in military uniform,” Odongtoo said.
