TWO tries from full back Brian Tindikahwa and right winger Allan Musoke were enough to give Uganda a 25-13 victory over West African rivals Cameroon in the Confederation of Africa Rugby (CAR) tie at Kampala rugby club Saturday.

Uganda will play against Kenya on October 5 in Nairobi to end the group matches in the Northern pool. The Southern pool has Botswana, Swaziland and Zambia.

The Ugandans showed they are in no mood to relinquish their campaign for the Six Nations CAR trophy with a dominant display over the visitors on Saturday.

Two minutes into the game, flanker Robert Seguya planted a splendid penalty into the opponents’ goal posts that put Uganda in a 3-0 lead. The ace added two other penalties, displaying his ability to kick the ball, to give Uganda a 9-0 lead in a space of ten minutes.

Cameroon, who struggled against the threat of humiliation, secured a penalty through Harriart Oneko fifteen minutes into the game.

The pressure was too much for the visitors’ desperate defence as Uganda stepped up the pace midway through the first half. The hosts put the ball wide for the first try through young blood Tindikahwa for 14-03 lead.

Cameroon re-gained through Harriart for yet another penalty that left them close at 6-14.

The visitors produced a spirited performance in the first twenty minutes of the second half with hard tackles that guaranteed them a try and a conversion by Berancer Kamguem and Harriart respectively.

Man-of-match Seguya planted two magnificent penalties to give the opponents a bloody nose with the final score 25-13.
