Cabinet minister Raila Odinga has warned of a revolution in Kenya if President Daniel arap Moi imposes Uhuru Kenyatta, the son of the country’s first president, to succeed him, reports Reuben Olita.

Odinga, the energy minister, is leading a faction in the ruling Kanu party opposed to Moi’s plan to install Kenyatta as president when he retires this year.

Kenya Television Network on Sunday night quoted Odinga as warning that a revolution would break out if Kenyatta was imposed on Kenyans.

The station also quoted him as saying he did not fear being sacked from Cabinet for his stand against Moi’s preferred choice.

Odinga, who also announced plans to vie for presidency, is Kanu’s secretary general. He dissolved his National Development Party(NDP) on March 18 to merge with Kanu.
