SIR—Today is a great day for Toro Kingdom. King Oyo Rukidi IV is celebrating his seventh anniversary on the throne. We need to reflect on many issues that have taken place in the kingdom. We must particularly guard against making quick decisions which might in the end cost us dear. I am very happy about the renovation of the old palace. When it is finally completed, it will hold its own in the ranks of palaces in Uganda. In a recent interview with The Red Pepper, incarcerated John Katuramu claimed that he had built the new palace singlehanded at sh500m! A look at the “sh500m palace” exposes Katuramu for what he is. One does not have to be a trained valuer! Incidentally, the bank of uganda recently seized his plot mortgaged with the former Greenland Bank against sh16,000,000. did Katuramu mortgage his personal assets, some as humble as his plot to raise sh500m to build the palace? What great love he had for Toro! However, the matter is not Katuramu as an individual. The issue is that those who forget history are condemned to repeat their mistakes. We must be very mindful of who holds office in toro Kingdom and should not be duped by wolves in sheep’s clothing. I am grateful that col Muammar Gadaffi has restored the glory of the magnificient palace. going by the speed of the work, the money, for once, must be in safe hands.
