Retired Bishop Marries At 72

With three bishops accompanying him, retired bishop of Luweero diocese, the Rt. Rev. Misusera Bugimbi, 72, was on Saturday introduced to the family of his fiancée, Margaret Katumba.

With three bishops accompanying him, retired bishop of Luweero diocese, the Rt. Rev. Misusera Bugimbi, 72, was on Saturday introduced to the family of his fiancée, Margaret Katumba.

His delegation, led by his successor in Luweero diocese, Bishop Evans Kisekka, included Bishop Samuel Balagadde Ssekkadde of Namirembe diocese and Wilson Mutebi of Mityana. Christians from Namirembe and Luweero diocese also attended.

The colourful function was held at Edward Katumba’s home in Kawafu, abayita-ababiri on Kampala-Entebbe road.

Bugimbi lost his first wife, Victoria, to cancer two years ago. He retired as Bishop of Luweero in 1996.
Speaking at the occasion, Ssekkadde urged the couple to trust each other and work towards unifying families in the Church.

“I rarely attend these functions, but I have come to attend this one because I was escorting my fellow bishop,’’ ssekkadde said.

The couple will tie the knot on October 26 at all saints cathedral Nakasero in Kampala.
