Katakwi district requires a minimum of 15 motorised tricycle ambulances to transport pregnant mothers to hospitals and health centres. The district also needs short-wave communication equipment since there are no telephones there. There are only four radio communication links in the district to service all sectors.

This was revealed by the District Director of Health Services, Katakwi, Dr Thomas Onyige in an interview with The New Vision in Kumi recently.
