KASESE district LC5 chairman LC5 Yokasi Bihande has criticised religious leaders decampaigning condom use as a protective device against HIV/AIDS.

“Even the Bible permits man to control, manage and use the available knowledge to protect and preserve life against danger,” Bihande said.

He was on Tuesday speaking at Kasese Catholic Diocese Social Services Hall in Kasese town, where he presented certificates to 103 medical trainees after completing a three-month course as nursing assistants.

The Catholic Church worldwide has come out to openly decampaign the use of condoms, saying the practice promotes immorality.

The district director of health services, Dr. Peter Okui, recently said the spread of HIV/AIDS in Kasese at 15% was above the national level.

Kasese district acting CAO Eseri Ngene warned the medical staff against stealing government drugs.
