THE report of the army’s investigation into the March 22, murder of an Irish Catholic priest, Fr Michael Declan O’Toole , in Kotido and the eventual public execution of two soldiers convicted by a field court martial is now ready, reports Alfred Wasike.

A cautious Col. Hudson Mukasa, the head of the five-member UPDF team assigned in June to probe the murders and the execution of the soldiers said they were ready.

“We interviewed many people in Kotido, Moroto and other places. We even talked to the Irish embassy officials,” Mukasa said, steering away from the contents of the report.
The Defence Minister, Amama Mbabazi, yesterday said he was waiting for the report.
Declan was killed alongside his driver and his cook.

They were ambushed at Kalosarich, three kilometres from a UPDF barracks on the Moroto-Kotido road. On March 26, two UPDF soldiers, Cpl. James Omedio and Pte Abdallah Muhammad were tied to trees and shot dead by firing squad near Kotido town after a marathon court martial found them guilty.
