KAMPALA Kids League (KKL) commissioner Trevor Dudley has confirmed that the coach of the basketball team involved in the “finger wagging” incident on October 5 was immediately replaced.

“Following the incident two weeks ago, the game officials submitted a report and the KKL disciplinary committee met on Monday and agreed to replace the offending coach with a parent who was more understanding of the KKL ideals."

“It is important that everyone understands that KKL took firm action immediately, even before the photograph appeared.”

The picture, ran in The New Vision (right) showed the coach of Steers Super seniors basketball team rebuking 17-year old Irvan Pakzad for poor play.

“KKL have very strict rules regarding parental behaviour at our games. We are fully aware of the importance of parents supporting and coaching the kids positively to ensure they enjoy the game and develop a love for sport," said Trevor.

KKL basketball commissioner David Jenkins also added, “All parents whose children play in the KKL have to agree a 10-point code of conduct which states the parental behaviour expected.

“We hold meetings before the season when we explain to parents the KKL philosophy. 99% of our parents are supportive people,” said Jenkins.

“Unfortunately a few parents and volunteers occasionally forget what they promised,” he added.

All parents will once again be required to sign the KKL code when registering their children for the new KKL Football League next Saturday.
