Former MVP Steven Omony will return to Kampala next month for national team trials.
The Seychelles-based star, is among 26 players selected by the basketball governing body FUBA for trials before a team is picked for the East, Central and Southern Africa Championships in Kigali, Rwanda, December 3-10.
The former Falcons star joined Plf Hawks last year.
“We have contacted Omony and he has confirmed he will be around. He will be in the country in November,†FUBA’s new publicity secretary Alexander Kasendwa said.
Charging Rhino coach/player Robert Ndamagye has been appointed national coach.
The MTN FUBA playoffs have also been rescheduled to start this Saturday to give the national team time to train together for the championship later.
Spectators will be charged an entry fee to raise funds for the national team.
Meanwhile, Henry Musisi is the new FUBA chairman. The former international trounced incumbent Juma Seiko 18-12 in the federation’s general assembly at Lugogo on Sunday.
