THE 2002/2003 season is set to commence on November 23, with the Nile Special Super league kick off, as Ugandan soccer drives towards a global calendar.
But the changes will also encompass the Kakungulu Cup, where a two legged play off from the quarter-finals onwards is on the cards, in what could turn out to be a totally refurbished 2003 football campaign.
National Football League Committee’s (NFLC) Justus Mugisha confirmed yesterday that the new season is just a few weeks away.
“That is definite. The league starts on November 23 and all clubs are aware, including those which are opposed to the new format,” he said.
Villa’s Yugoslav coach Micho Sredojevich was among the upset voices that vehemently expressed their fury at the change in format.
The 2002/2003 season fixtures will be released in two weeks time.
Mugisha added that the Kakungulu Cup changes would make the sponsor-less cup more attractive. Ends
