GODWIN Khisa is confident Jinja has what it takes to retain the MTN basketball league title.
The Sky Jammers’ captain Khisa said they intend to have one leg in the finals by tomorrow. “We want to win both games this weekend so that we have enough time to prepare for the finals. We want to take back the trophy to Jinja.”
YMCA Wandegeya will be the place to be on the first weekend of the MTN Classic play-offs.
Defending champions Sky Jammers hope to eject Falcons from the MTN basketball semi-final play-offs in straight games but the 1999 champions will not be taken by surprise this time.
Jammers entered the play-offs last year as underdogs and went on to shock Falcons 2-1 in the semi-finals. Khisa had a great year and formed a lethal partnership with MVP Norman ‘Magic’ Blick.
Jammers, who have been camped in Entebbe, will also look to Donald Blick, Hakim Iga, Geoffrey Lwondo and Justus Mugisha for baskets.
Falcons will miss the services of captain Bernard Mufutu and guard Justus Mwasakyeni but coach Ronald Kaboha is still optimistic. “ My talented young players proved capable in the second round,” Kaboha said.
