A newly wed wife was divorced a fortnight after her wedding for putting yilizi (talisman) under the pillow of her husband.

This took place in Kazo-Angola near Kawempe, where the newly-wed couple had just moved into their new home.

The hubby found the talisman wrapped in a bark-cloth while the wife was taking a shower.

When the hubby saw the talisman under his pillow, he quickly called his wife and showed it to her.
He questioned her, and she said the talisman was there to chase away emizimu (evil spirits).

However the husband, whose temper had by now flared up, refused to accept his wife’s excuses and pleas for mercy, but just showed her the exit before throwing her belongings out after her, saying, “Ddayo ewammwe nnebijjadu byo,” loosely translated, “Go back to your village with your witchcraft.”
