ADAM Jumba joined the rare list of five-wicket haul takers in one-day cricket as he led Wanderers to a six-wicket victory over Nile CC in the Castle Lager league yesterday.
Wanderers, on 407 points, are on top of the league table above Tornado (398). The two will clash in a league decider on Sunday at Lugogo oval.
Jumba (6/26) went crazy with the ball at Kyambogo oval to claim Nile openers George Kayondo and Humphrey Mitanda for ducks in the first over for a total score of 03 runs.
Swinging the ball in both directions, the right arm pacer dismissed Nile captain Arthur Nuwagaba (01), Benjamin Mukasa (11), Edgar Byansi (02) and Humphrey Obace (01) as Nile crumbled to 23/7 in the first ten overs.
A series of sloppy shots saw Nile dismissed for their lowest score ever as they were restricted to a pathetic 44/10 in 15 overs with Tendo Mbazzi claiming 4/14.
“We were out played in all departments and our opponents took advantage of the dreadful performance,” Nuwagaba revealed after the match.
In Jinja, hosts JACC ended their season in style with a dramatic one-wicket victory over new comers Pakland CC.
The visitors struggled to 152/10, a score JACC overhauled with 13 overs at hand.
The third match of the day saw captain Junior Kwebiiha hit a half century to guide ACC to a massive 148 run victory over Castle Development XI at Lugogo oval.
Kwebiiha (60) hit five boundaries and two mighty sixes as ACC raced to 217/10 in 47 overs.
Castle XI suffered a major collapse in their chase as they fell to Emmanuel Gonahasa (5/14) for a total score of 69/10 in 22.3 overs.
Meanwhile, the monthly Castle Lager awards are set for tomorrow at Lugogo. Ends
