A man convicted of adultery early this year has been re-arrested and jailed for failure to remit sh2.7m in damages to the complainant, reports Moses Nampala.
Jinja Grade One Magistrate Agnes Nkonge said the attitude of Jackson Kabuzi reflected contempt of court.
“Since February this year when court ruled on this matter, you have not made any effort to pay the complainant the damages and costs of the suit worth sh2,143,440m. You will be jailed in Kirinya Prison until the said money is fully paid.” Nkonge ruled.
Leonard Kalyowa, the complainant, said he married Harriet Nakazzi on November 21, 1992, at Our Lady of Fatuma Catholic church in Jinja and had two children.
But on April 24, 2000, Kalyowa caught Nakazzi and Kabuzi having sex at Kabuzi’s home in Mbiko, near Jinja. They pleaded guilty and Kabuzi was released after paying a fine of sh200. Ends
