The quality of art in Uganda has grown to higher levels, Prince David Kintu Wassajja, Kabaka Ronald Mutebi’s young brother, has said.
The prince, who represented Kabaka Mutebi at Theresa Musoke’s Christmas exhibition of arts and crafts, expressed happiness at the way Ugandans are taming nature.
The exhibition opened last Friday at Okapi Gallery on Ggaba Road in Kampala.
“This is wonderful work. I think people should come and look at this wonderful pieces and should not feel shy to carry a painting back home,” Wassajja said.
“Art is good for us because it exploits the rich African heritage. I appreciate art and urge other people to start trying out the little sense of art they have, and you never know. You may turn out to be one of the greatest artists.”
Musoke, one of the leading local artists does her paintings on backcloth.
Theresa Musoke’s exhibition will continue until December 24. Ends
