The evening of December 4, saw the birth of a new art gallery called Afriart Gallery.
The gallery is already in operation. There is an exhibition of work by seven artists fresh from the Margaret Trowell School of Fine Art, Makerere University at the gallery, housed on the ground floor of Nsimbe building at the Lugogo UMA show grounds.
Daudi Karungi, the brain behind the gallery says: “we are here to represent the beginning of an innovative and unique approach to the promotion of African art by ensuring an opportunity to exhibit and promote a diverse collection of artworks created by the young, talented and innovative artists.”
The exhibitions at the gallery are oil paintings, acrylics on paper, pen on paper, photography and sculptures done by Paul Ndema, John Mukiza, Vivian Mugume, Rogers Adholla, Hood Jjuuko, Joseph Bukenya and Peter Oloya.
The art work has a multiplicity of ideas, themes and subjects.
The show is on for the next three months. Prices of the paints range from a $100 to $350. Ends
