20 killed for poaching
KASESE – Twenty people have been killed over the last four years over poaching in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The DPC, Wilfred Kwediga, while addressing residents of Kalhongoire village, Nyakiyumba sub-county, Bukonzo East, on Thursday, said the poachers were mostly from the sub-county bordering the park.

Groups plan joint force
ENTEBBE – Military and political groups fighting for peace in southern Sudan want to form a joint military force to oversee armed groups during the peace process to be implemented under the Machakos Protocol. The protocol, which is seeking for the reconciliation between the Sudan government and the rebel groups, was signed in July in Kenya and is to be implemented within six years.

New Adhola Cabinet out
TORORO – The cultural leader of the Adhola, Moses Stephen Owor, has installed 44 Cabinet ministers, their deputies and a senior private secretary. The colourful function on Saturday was in the Adhola’s home in Amagoro Zone, east of Tororo Municipality. John Arutu, the Tororo Chief Magistrate, presided over the swearing-in ceremony witnessed by the Chief Justice, Benjamin Odoki and Henry Obbo, the state minister for labour. Can. Obbo-Makola, the Principal of Nagongera NTC, was named prime minister.
