IN a move to streamline traffic operations, the Police are introducing traffic offence tickets. Anyone served the ticket is obliged to immediately pay the fine at the nearest Uganda Revenue Authority office.

Inspector General of Police Maj. Gen. Katumba Wamala said on Friday the public had complained about rampant corruption by the traffic Police.

“We want to introduce better traffic management and save people’s time,” Katumba said adding, “When you are in the wrong, we give you the card and you pay the fine.”

Katumba said the Police would lobby the works ministry and urban authorities to erect road signs to reduce the road carnage.

“When people die in the battlefields, it draws a lot of attention, but we should realise that road accidents are killing a lot of people.

The recent trend of road accidents has seen a surge in accidents.
