SC VILLA’S Yugoslav coach Micho Sredojevich is tuning his club for an ambitious season where the champions will compete in four major tournaments.
As league champions, Villa will represent Uganda in the CECAFA and African Champions league respectively while also pursuing domestic honours in the league and Kakungulu cup.
“I have tried to make our squad big because we are going to compete on four fronts.
One squad will challenge for the CECAFA, the second for the league, the third for the Champions league while the last will battle for the Kakungulu cup.”
Micho says he will try as much as possible to use a rotational system so that the club does not suffer the effects along the way.
“I want to try and do it the way it’s done in Europe. I will rotate my players in due course.”
Villa won their sixth double in the 2002 season.
On the Nile Special Super League, Villa coach thinks Uganda Revenue Authority’s emphatic start to the season is not surprising.
“They had the best defence last season alongside Villa. They are a very solid team with impressive forwards in Hamis Kitagenda and David Kiwanuka.
We played them in Iddi Cup and beat them 1-0 but they showed that they are a good side. I have serious respect for them,” added Micho.
Villa is the only side yet to kick a ball in the 2002-2003 Nile Special Super League season.
