NAKAPIRIPIRIT district chairman John Lorot has nullified the nomination and approval of his former opponent, John Nangiro, as the chairman of the district public accounts committee (PAC), reports Nathan Etengu.

NAKAPIRIPIRIT district chairman John Lorot has nullified the nomination and approval of his former opponent, John Nangiro, as the chairman of the district public accounts committee (PAC), reports Nathan Etengu.
Lorot claimed that Nangiro’s name was smuggled to the council without going through the district executive committee for vetting and nominations as required by law.
“I have been in Parliament for a long time so I cannot be deceived on any matter of law,” Lorot said.
Nangiro, who was the interim LC5 chairman of Nakapiripirit at the inception of the district, lost the district chairmanship election to Lorot.
Lorot, who is the former MP for Pian county, said he had communicated his decision to the Ministry of Local Government.
He said the district speaker, Jotham Loyor, was coerced to allowing the council to vote on the motion that nominated Nangiro.
Loyor allowed the councillors to vote on the controversial nomination after the council got divided between the executive members and the non-executive members over the nomination.
The council on December 12 approved by a vote of 11 to 7 the nomination of Nangiro for the post of chairperson for the district public accounts committee of the non-executive members of the council. Ends
