OPINION:
The most astonishing news of the year came two weeks ago when Express striker Hassan Mubiru was reportedly trying to be smuggled to Brunei by SC Villa.

At Entebbe airport, Mubiru was dropped by his former teammate Hakim Magumba.

The Jogoo camp has vehemently denied any sort of involvement and insists club official Tushar Ruparelia was going about his business and not Villa matters.

Express has reported the matter to FUFA while Villa is standing firm.

But FUFA does not have a history of competence when served with controversial problems.

The once upon a time allegations of bribery, that made hot news mid last year descended into total oblivion.

And last season, FUFA/NFLC awarded Express three bizarre points after the SCOUL encounter with the Red Eagles aborted. The story was not any different when SC Villa sought action against Express chairman Godfrey Kirumira regarding talk of abducted players.

FUFA has shown, in the past, inability to solve issues as complicated as the Mubiru scandal.

Another failure here would seriously question the credibility of the game’s governing body.
