Two perish in taxi accident

TWO people died on Friday and several others were seriously injured when a commuter vehicle they were traveling in overturned on the Fort Portal- Kasese road.

The accident, which involved the Kasese- bound taxi registration number UAQ 965A, took place at about 8.00 p.m. at Kasinganyanja, about 27 miles from FortPortal Municipality. Witnesses said the accident was caused by overspeeding. Kabarole district Police commander Francis Tumushabe identified the dead as Ali Mande, 29, and John Rukama, 30, of Bukoma village. Mande was the conductor of the vehicle. Tumushabe said Rukama died on the spot while Mande died on the way to Kilembe Hospital, where some of the injured were rushed. Others were rushed to Buhinga Government Hospital in Fort Portal. Ends
