By Eric Lakidi PRESIDENTIAL aspirant Daniel Omara Atubo has said he was not standing on the UPC ticket but on individual merit. Atubo said it would be illegal and unconstitutional for him to stand as an official UPC candidate. He also refuted press reports that Lira UPC supporters had denounced his bid for presidency. "I would say these are just a bunch of lies being peddled by unknown politicians in Lango. "What I know is that the UPC will not field and has no official candidate and will not back any particular candidate," he said. He was reacting to press reports that UPC supporters in Lira district had rejected his candidature. Atubo told The New Vision yesterday at his Bugolobi residence, that he was not challenging Dr. Milton Obote's leadership. "I am not contesting for UPC presidency. I recognise and respect the old man and his contribution to people of this country," Atubo said. Ends
