By Catherine Kigozi President Yoweri Museveni has honoured a sh10m pledge he made to the Buganda Kingdom while visiting Nakaseke recently. The cheque and a statement from state house, Nakasero, were yesterday handed over to the Katikkiro's Permanent Secretary, Joseph Kisuule. Museveni promised he would contribute to the Kabaka's fund for the development of the kingdom. Meanwhile, Democratic Party president Dr. Kawanga Ssemogerere yesterday met Mengo officials and discussed which presidential aspirant Buganda should support. The three-hour meeting was attended by Buganda local government minister Kamala Kanamwanyi, Bulungibwansi minister Sewava Serubiri and other Mengo officials. Kanamwanyi, who was seen seeing Ssemogerere off, declined to comment on the meeting. "This issue is off press limits. It is limited to other people. I do not have anything to say about this meeting," he said. An official from Mengo who spoke on condition of anonymity said, "Yes, I'm happy to see Ssemogerere coming out to discuss this issue with us. "We have talked and I think we are in a good direction. I cannot comment much on this matter because we are not allowed to participate in politics but we are supposed to choose and direct, which I think we are doing. "We want to get a person who will represent Buganda's views," he said. He also said, "As Baganda we want unity. It is like a choir that has voices like alto, bass, soprano and tenor. They all make a melodic tune. That is all we want, a common and sounding voice." The official said the Buganda leaders had already identified a candidate whom he declined to name. "I think we have a candidate. I cannot name that person until the right time," he said. Ends
