PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has warned that an internal Movement disciplinary court will prosecute Movement leaders who disgrace themselves especially in public.

By John Kakande and Josephine Maseruka PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has warned that an internal Movement disciplinary court will prosecute Movement leaders who disgrace themselves especially in public. Answering questions on Radio Simba from 8:08pm to 11:37pm on Monday night, Museveni said the disciplinary court will be chaired by the Movement vice-chairman, Moses Kigongo. "It is designed to maintain high standards of conduct. My leadership has gone through a furnace. It is time-tested and reliable," Museveni said. Responding to a caller who said Vice-President Speciosa Kazibwe was "dividing people in Iganga with her fights with the chairman (Patrick Bageya)," Museveni said Movement leaders who fight or disgrace themselves will be dealt with by the disciplinary court." Museveni also vowed to punish those who participated in the 1996 controversial purchase of junk MI 24 helicopter gunships. "Some people say that I hide bad things. But whoever participated in making the Ugandan taxpayer lose money in the purchase of those helicopters will be punished severely," he said. "They are saying that I did not act because my brother Salim Saleh was involved. Remember, Saleh was the first soldier I chased from the army in 1989 when he was doing certain things I did not like," he said. After asking integrity and ethics minister Miria Matembe to explain the chopper saga, Museveni said he had set up a judicial commission under Justice Ssebutinde. "Even those who have been saying that I am hiding things in the UCB sale will be proved wrong. We appointed the Justice Ogoola commission. It finished its work. We shall soon make it public," Museveni said. Ends.
